There has never been a better time…

During these difficult times, most of us are finding that health is at the forefront of our minds. It can be easy in times of stress to fall back onto old habits, but now more than ever is the time to make a change.

Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health. No matter how long you have smoked for, it is never too late to quit. Not only will you strengthen your immune system and reduce your risk of illness and infection, but you will also benefit those around you.

The good news is, there are lots of thing you can do today to help reduce your cravings and make a clean break from smoking.

Clean your house – Removing all of your smoking paraphernalia will help reduce the risk of relapsing. Throw away your ashtrays, plus any matches or lighters. Remove all cigarettes from the house and don’t buy anymore. Wash your bedding, towels, curtains and any fabrics to help remove the smell of cigarettes. If you are using NRT or Champix, keep it in accessible places. The action of cleaning is also a good way to distract yourself from cravings and keep fit.

Clean Your Car – Just like in the house, the smells of smoking will have penetrated the fabrics in your car. Clean the floor mats, seats and even ceiling, as well as thoroughly washing your windows to remove any smoke grime. Empty all the nooks and cranny’s in your car of lighters and cigarettes. Try having boiled sweets in the car to help you get through cravings on journeys.

Wash your clothes – Smoke smells will linger on your clothes too. Give everything a thorough wash to help remove the smell. Consider getting items like coats dry-cleaned to help.

Freshen Up your Workspace – Whilst many of us are now working from home, giving your workspace a clean and reshuffle will help break habits and remove temptation. Throw away any smoking-related items and keep NRT products at your desk so they are accessible when you need them. You should also consider changing your routine to help break habits: change the drinks you have and the times you have them or if you are not working from home, take a different route into work.
