Key FactsStatistics on NHS Stop Smoking Services in England – April 2022 to March 2023 (Q4, Annual)

People successfully quitting (self reported) Of 176,566 people setting a quit date, 95,400 (54.0%) were successful.

Of those successfully quitting, 14.6% had their results confirmed by Carbon Monoxide verification.

Quitting success (self-reported) increased with age 46.5% of those aged under 18 were successful, compared to 57.0% of those aged 60 and over.

Pregnant women successfully quit after setting a quit date.

Of the 13,846 pregnant women setting a quit date, 6,389 (46.1%) were successful.

Of the pregnant women successfully quitting, 30.9% had their results confirmed by Carbon Monoxide verification.
