I have worked as a stop smoking advisor since 2009 and took on the role of Practitioner in 2017. I jointly manage the day-to-day operational running of the service as well as overseeing some of the projects.

I am proud to work within this team, who are always welcoming and keen to help you to quit smoking. I have seen how quitting smoking can have an incredible impact on someone’s life with many benefits.

People quit for all sorts of reasons and when you’re ready to take that step we will be here to help, providing support that has shown to be the most effective way of quitting smoking.

I joined the Stop Smoking Team in 2018 after 12 years spent working in the voluntary sector. I work alongside our other Practitioner to manage the service day-to-day, with responsibility for overseeing our specialist projects which support people who may find it more challenging to quit smoking.

People often tell us that quitting smoking is one of the most difficult things they’ve ever attempted. Our (very friendly!) team are there to support people through this process and evidence shows that using the support and advice we offer is significantly more effective than going it alone.

We feel passionately about the difference we can make to people’s lives and encourage everyone who wants to quit to get in touch with our service.

I have worked as a Stop Smoking Advisor since 2012. I am currently covering the role of the Practitioner,  jointly managing the day-to-day operational running of the service as well as overseeing some of the projects.

My specialist area is Electronic Cigarettes (or E-cigarettes). This project looks at new developments in the area of e-cigarettes and their use in a quit attempt. We are already an e-cigarette friendly service. This means we will support those who choose to purchase and use an e-cigarette, either on its own or alongside licensed stop smoking medications that we provide as part of their quit attempt.

As an ex-smoker who used the service to quit, I am passionate about helping smokers through the journey of quitting and enjoying a happy, healthy, smoke-free life

I have worked for the Stop Smoking Service for just over 8 years. My work involves forming links with Midwifes and Health Visitors across the Boroughs and supporting other health professionals who give advice and support around smoking, in particular around smoking in pregnancy.

I also run 1-2-1 appointments, one of these is a late night clinic each week.

When you are ready to quit smoking, I look forward to meeting you.

Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world.  I know, because I’ve done it a thousand times!” – Mark Twain

Whimsical as this phrase may be, as an ex-smoker I understand these are words all smokers can relate to.  Our friendly, approachable team also recognise this, and take pride in our dedication to supporting smokers throughout their quit attempt.

In addition to providing face-to-face and telephone support, I am also the training lead. I work closely with our advisors, health care professionals and well-being community to ensure smokers in MK, CBC & BBC are being offered the latest, clinically proven, behavioural and pharmacological support.

With support from our FREE app, “My Quit Route”, our commitment is to give you every chance for success towards a new, smoke-free life

Having stepped up into the role of a Senior Stop Smoking Advisor has really made me appreciate what I do. Helping people stop smoking and celebrating their achievement gives me great pleasure and makes me even more keen to make the public in general healthier.

I also co-ordinate the Acute Project, so I am the primary contact for the 3 local hospitals (Bedford, Milton Keynes and Luton & Dunstable), plus I specialise in ensuring our work reaches those with long-term conditions.

I have been a Stop Smoking Advisor since 2016 and offer both face to face and telephone support clinics within the three local authorities. I also co-ordinate the Children & Young Peoples project within the Stop Smoking Services, working in partnership with other Children & Young Peoples organisations to spread the word about the dangers of smoking.

I can honestly say I feel very passionate about the work I do. It’s all very close to my heart: building people’s confidence, supporting and encouraging them to make those big changes in their lives to go on and live a smoke free healthier, and hopefully longer, life.

As Project Support officer, I look after the ‘behind the scenes’ aspects of the Stop Smoking Service. I book appointments, answer calls and support the advisors with their projects. I also handle the administrative side of the service: monitoring and editing the website, processing finances and ensuring everything is fully stocked.

Along side my Project Support work, I am also completing an Apprenticeship in Business Administration.

If you have any questions about the service or wish to make an appointment with one of our advisors, I’m here to take your call.
